Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at pre-intermediate level. The basic study material is coursebook New English File Upper-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials.
At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at intermediate level and communicate in the language fluently.

  • The basic study material is the coursebook New English File UPPER-INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Unit 2, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

Teaching methods
Workshop, discussions, role-play, self-study.
Assessment methods
Requirements: assigned homework, i.e. prepare the corresponding section of the Unit; regular attendance; one written assignement; written test; oral credit test.
Methods: discussions, group work activities, pair work activities, listening and reading tasks.
The lessons will be focused on speaking, listening and reading. Test: summary of Unit 2.
