Course objectives

Having met the course requirements, students will be able to understand the basic questions of the field, they will be able to explain the basic techniques of reading and diagnostics at primary level, they will be able to use the information about the evaluation criteria of readers in their own assessment of a chosen title.

Syllabus

• 1. The subject and objectives of the literary education in the curriculum. Universal questions of the subject and objectives of the literary education as a part od aesthetical education. 2. Conceptions of the contemporary readers and textbooks. Most frequent textbooks, main features of this conceptions, publishers. 3. Reading in upper classes of primary school, reading skills, valuation of reading, understanding of texts, reading literacy.

Assessment methods

Completion: credit. Requirements: written work - complex evaluation of chosen reader for primary school (from 2nd to 5th class) concerning the content (verbal part - literary texts, supplement texts, illustrations), didactic components (directive apparatus) and use of this textbook at schools (positive and negative qualities). Detailed requirements are available in Study Materials of the course in the Information System MU, the folder Learning Materials.
