Course objectives
The aim of the seminar is to provide communication skills both theoretical education in the field of personal and social education and practical training methods of effective communication. After completion of the course the student is able to recognize effective from ineffective communication and will be able to use in the classroom. During the course you will learn a wide vocabulary for naming feelings and become more sensitive to the perception of needs, which are the feelings hidden. Student can clarify what is meant by active listening and detects errors in its use, refines what is empathy and realizes its importance in the educational environment, learn the techniques of coping with negative emotions. Furthermore, in the course introduces with the typology of teacher issues, and their effectiveness for pupil's understanding. They learn how to give feedback to pupils in accordance with the rules of effective communication. Clarify how to communicate with parents.
Learning outcomes
After attending the subject the student can work with contact as the basic communication tool, recognize effective communication from inefficient and will be able to use it in teaching and communication with parents.
Syllabus
  • 1. Contact as a basic principle of human communication. Psychology of communication. 2. Self-reflection, personality development and reflection of their own history at school: Teachers as positive and negative communication patterns 3. Needs and feelings expressed in communication, emotional communication, empathy. 4. Communication in the education system - hidden curriculum, paradoxical instructions, use of words 5. Communicating with the class as a social group: the basis for working with relationships. Community circles. Work with change. 6. Conflicting and problematic situations in class - communication in prevention and solution of relationship problems, aggression, bullying. 7. Communication of difficult topics: crisis, spirituality, death, taboo, overlapping themes. 8. Nonverbal communication at the school. 9. Communication with parents.

Teaching methods
active teaching methods, especially group work, play in role, discussions, and outside it self study
Assessment methods
delivered continuously short essays reflecting the student's thinking over the specified text (about a 30-page), submission of a final reflection, recording observations of the class meeting - mandatory for students to study for the first century. Basic, active participation in hours, min. 75% attendance
