Course objectives
Lectures widen students´knowledge in the field of literary movements, currents and personalities in Russian literature of the 2 nd half of the 20 th century. This subject offers the students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the history of Russian literature. It extends and also systematises present knowledge of significant events in Russian literary life in a certain period. The students will learn about the work of individual authors through the practical interpretation of selected texts.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to explain the development of literary trends and movements in the particular period of Russian literature. They will be able to analyse the style of outstanding literary personalities of the period. At the end of this course the student will be able to critically interpret and analyze a work selected literary works.
Syllabus
  • Lectures: 1.Poetry 60s - 80s. So-called singing poetry, Russian rock poetry Key topics of Russian prose of the second half of the century. Village prose, the theme of war, Gulag
  • 2.Literary processes in the late 20th century. Theme "cult of personality", Russian postmodernism
  • Russian prose in the late 20th century
  • Russian poetry in the late 20th century
  • Russian drama in the late 20th century
  • The topics of the seminars is thematically linked to the topics of lectures.

Active participation in seminars. Students will elaborate on a topic that relates to the literary work of one of the authors of the second half of the 20th century.
