Prerequisites
Student who applies for to the course have to know: a basic knowledge of low vision pedagogy, basic rules for the improvement of public space and the basic of spatial orientation.

Course objectives
Objectives of the course: Students can choose appropriate educational strategies for working with visually impaired people to reflect the needs of these people according to the type of visual impairment and the level of functional vision. The student can communicate with people with visual impairment; The student is able to accompany people with severe visual impairment; The student is able to prepare a program of school and out-of-school activities for a group of individuals with any kind of visual impairment; Student identifies barriers for visually impaired people in microspace and macro-space; The student is able to propose the removal of barriers according to the legislation and the functional vision of particular individuals with visual impairment.

  • Definition of visual impairment - medical, special education, functional.
  •  International classification of functional abilities, disability and health.
  •  Influence of the most common sight disorders on functional vision.
  •  Influence of the most common sight disorders on functional abilities.
  •  Psychological development of people with visual impairment, Basics of crisis intervention in people with visual impairment.
  •  Diagnosis of special needs of people with reduced levels of functional vision in the school environment.
  •  Diagnosis of the needs of people with reduced functional vision in their free time.
  •  Identification of barriers for visually impaired people.
  •  Removing barriers for visually impaired people (theoretical and practical exercises).
  •  Principles of proper communication with visually impaired people.
  • Guiding of persons with severe visual impairment (theoretical and practical exercises).
