Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce experimental archaeology to students (e.g. recent research questions and the possibilities of answering them with modern methods). Students will get the opportunity to learn basic material-working skills (i.e. metal and ceramics) and traditional production technologies at practical workshops. Theoretical lectures will be given by experts.

  • 3 lectures (history of experimental archaelogy, scientific approach x living history, experimental archaeology application examples)
  • 2 pottery making workshops (Panská Lhota)
  • 2 metal processing workshops (Pohansko)
  • one-day excursion
