Lectures in field survey and excavation methodology are recommended to the students in Bachelor's degree level.

Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are:
- training of archaeology students. They should be able to determine the scientific goals of research. They will be able to lead field survey and excavations and to present the scientific outputs of joint research activities
- direct involvement of students in existing IAM research teams where they will gain direct experience at all levels of archaeological research (excavation and survey).
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to independently solve the following points:

1. Archaeological prospecting:
Determination of the prospecting method
Determination of the survey methodology
Recording of artefacts and samples
Study of old maps
Selection of other appropriate methods of prospecting

2. Archaeological excavation:
Surveying of the research area
Determination of excavation methods
Excavation of archaeological contexts
Documentation of archaeological contexts
Archiving of documents
Recording of artefacts and samples
Termination of excavations and preparation for further processing of extracted information
