Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the students with a view of how relations between subjectivity, social relations and nature, as viewed from a Romantic perspective, in rural contexts, develop in terms of perspectives provided from the late eighteenth century down to the early twentieth century .This year's course will focus on aspects of the work of Charles Darwin and Thomas Hardy. By the end of the course, students will have read, discussed and analysed, in spoken and written form, aspects of the texts chosen to represent this development.
