Course objectives
In this course, students will be asked to present part of their dissertation to their peers and may have the option of using this occasion to rehearse an upcoming conference presentation. At the end of the course, students will be equipped with more extensive knowledge in the general field of cognitive-functional linguistics. Students should in addition be able to understand and to constructively criticize one another's work and, more importantly, improve the quality of their own research from peers' comments.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- present the partial results of their scholarly endeavours
- offer constructive criticism to their peers
- accept constructive criticism from their peers
- reflect critically on their own work and take into consideration alternative perspectives.
Syllabus
  • Presentation during a seminar scheduled during the term.
Teaching methods
Active participation and discussion is necessary. Exposition, explanation, discussion, critical reflection.
Assessment methods
An oral presentation of own's study project is required.
