Cíle předmětu
The course will focus on aspects of relations between post-war British society and culture (primarily popular culture), including social geography, popular music, film, consumer culture and sport, as well as considering theoretical approaches developed in the same period. By the end of the course the student will have written an essay displaying their ability to analyze the possible cultural significance of a given form of cultural expression in the period covered.During the partcpants the course will be encouraged to develop the skills of analyzing and discussing the cultural significance of a given phenomenon or trend using relevant textual evidence and of comparing trends in their own cultures with those analyzed in relation to British culture.
Výstupy z učení
Students who have completed the course should have a better understanding of the nature of British cultural studies and the way in which it approaches both its native cultures/subcultures and, in terms of methodologies, those of other regions and nations.

Výukové metody
Teaching by group work and class discussion in the form of seminars.
Metody hodnocení
Assessment will take the form of class contribution (40%) and an essay of 7-10 pages.(60%).The essay has the status of an exam and may have to be registered for. Please send one copy to my e-mail address in the IS and submit another copy to the IS odevzdavarna/vault.
