Course objectives
This year's course will consider aspects of the work of Manuel Castells and Arran Gare on areas related to the development of environmental awareness, internet communication and the media, the decline of the nation-state and a consideration of related lines of consideration in aspects of Anglo-American modernist and neo-modernist poetry represented by the work of T.S Eliot, Edward Dorn and J.H. Prynne.
Learning outcomes
Students who have completed the course will have gained a broader understanding of the form and nature of global cultural change in the late twentieth century andtheir implications for life in the present century.

The course will be taught by a combination of group and class discussion
Assessment methods
The course will be assessed in terms of oral contribution (40%) and essay (8-12 pages)(60%). Essays should be submitted to my e-mail address in the IS.
