Course objectives
The Austro-Prussian War of 1866. The aim of the seminar is to provide information about sources related to the Austro-Prussian War and its impact in this country. Attention will be paid not to descriptions of combat operations but to the life of the civilian population of Bohemia and Moravia in connection with wartime events. Undergraduates will be acquainted with various types of sources from district and regional archives offering as wide as possible a view of the repercussions of the Austro-Prussian War in towns and in the countryside. Special attention will be paid to official records, entries in chronicles and memoirs, and registry office documents.

Teaching methods
The seminars consist of a short introductory talk by the teacher and students’ essays related to the issue under discussion.
Assessment methods
As part of the course, undergraduates will produce essays illustrating the course of the Austro-Prussian War in selected localities on the basis of archival sources and present them at seminars. The awarding of credits is dependent upon active participation in the seminar and the writing and presentation of an essay on a given topic.
