Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide a survey of the development of the Croatian literature since the beginnings of the Slavonic written culture to the end of the 19th century. The characteristics of the dominant styles, genres, tendencies and creative methods is based on the contextual analysis of the most significant works of the Croatian literature of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Enlightenment, Romanticism and Realism. Croatian literature is examined in the context of the domestic as well as European historical and cultural developments.

Assessment methods
Prerequisites for granting the credit: regular attendance and thorough home preparation on weekly basis, participation in class discussion, handing in an essay. Oral exam concentrates on the student’s knowledge of the subject matter as well as the relevant literature.
