Course objectives
The goal is to bridge the gap between an intro syntax course and "adult syntax." We shall look at mass/count/plural denotations.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to
- understand current concepts of modern linguistics
- analyze selected linguistic phenomena using current analytical tools
- compare various theoretical approaches to selected linguistic phenomena
Syllabus
  • We will start working on mass/count/plural denotations. Where we end up depends in part on the interest of the participants.
Literature
  • the reading list will be constructed according to our current interests
Teaching methods
discussion over an assigned reading discussion of facts about verbs from various languages

Active participation (= attendance, discussion about the papers)
