Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
analyse and intepret poetics texts, and to present their own findings and opinions;
read and work with the secondary literature by using their sense of critique,
orientate in Holub's literary work;
characterize the most important elements of Holub's poetics and its tendencies;
discuss the historical and intertextual continuity of Holub's work as a significant part of it, and also to understand the context of the origin of his particular publications.
Syllabus
  • Basic orientation in secondary literature;
  • personage of Miroslav Holub - his literary, travelogue and scientific activities;
  • orientation in wide Holub's work and biography;
  • analysis and interpretation of Holub's literary texts;
  • characteristics of Miroslav Holub's poetics and its tendencies;
  • Miroslav Holub and his role in czech and international literature (predecessors and similiar authors).
