Course objectives
The seminar is not designed as a consistent biography neither as a thorough analysis of the work of Karel Čapek. It will rather try to show the art and society of the twenties and thirties through the personality of Čapek. The many interests of Čapek will enable us to go through many aspects of the cultural life in the "first republic".
