Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: Feuilleton is the most subjective genre of journalistic genres which are traditionally reffered to as publicistic. Apart from journalists, the writers also wrote feuilletons, which is important for the Czech literary tradition as well as for the journalistic one. The writers took the advantage of this specific genre – the texts are very subjective, topical, lyrical or satiric. The Czech feuilleton metamorphosed in various ways, considering its function or its form. It can be observed during periods of its development or its descent. This course focus on its development from first experiments in the 1840s till today. At the end of this course, students should be able to understand the genre of the feuilleton in the Czech literary traditon in its different appearances.
