CJJ01 Language - Proseminar
Students should successfully complete other courses in synchronic linguistics and in literary theory before taking the course in stylistics. A lecture in stylistics is recommended, if offered in the particular term.

Course objectives
The main aim of the seminar is to provide the students with skills necessary for analyzing texts of all kinds from the viewpoint of stylistics.
Learning outcomes
Having participated in the course, students should be able: • to trace the influence of factors shaping style on style of texts; • to look up stylistic characterization of means of expression, using relevant sources; • to analyze aspects of composition important from the viewpoint of stylistics; • to get orientated in relevant academic sources.

  • The course is divided into several mutually linked modules, focused on the above-mentioned skills, each module consists of theoretical and practical sections.
