Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The subject is for students who have already passed the subject CJBB178. The subject is a combination of theoretical knowledge with practical teaching which is realized in the Department of Czech for Foreigners (A0 and A1 level). The lessons are taught by long-standing teachers of the Department of Czech for Foreigners. The students will be also get acquainted in detail with Czech within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and subsequently with teaching materials, including the choice of the appropriate textbook for each level of language skills. One of the most important topics will be language diagnostics, testing and evaluation focused on the different purposes of the language exams, e.g. Czech Language Exam for Applicants for Permanent Residency, Czech Life and Institutions Exam and Czech Language Exam for Czech Citizenship Purposes, Czech Language Certificate Exam (CCE). A special part of the course is dedicated to information about the creation of entrance tests for determining the language skills of participants in Czech language courses.
Learning outcomes
After having accomplished this seminar the student will be able to:
- teach Czech as a foreign/second language to adults;
- choose appropriate teaching materials and methods;
- have an overview concerning exams in Czech as a foreign/second language;
- understand how the CEFR and the referential descriptions of Czech work in practice;
- analyst teaching units and work with feedback.

  • 1. Introduction and competencies according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • 2. Teaching materials focused on A0 and A1 level.
  • 3. Observation of Grammar lesson (level A0) and subsequent analysis.
  • 4. Observation of Conversation lesson (level A0) and subsequent analysis.
  • 5. Observation of Grammar lesson (level A1) and subsequent analysis.
  • 6. Observation of Conversation lesson (level A1) and subsequent analysis.
  • 7. Language diagnostics, testing and evaluation.
  • 8. Summary and conclusion.
