Course objectives
The aim of this course is to offer a general overview of the most important literary works of the second half of the 20th century. Meant as a complement to the course "Czech literature in the 2nd half of the 20th century", it shall give to the students a more complex view.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course student will be able to:
- interpret literary work;
- formulate his/hers own reading experience;
- argue his/hers own opinion in the point of meaning and value of literary work;
- create his/hers own system of notes about books.
Syllabus
  • Canon.
  • Critical edition.
  • Editions of chosen authors of Czech literature.
  • Creation of a reader's notes for individual reading catalogue.
  • Working with metatexts, afterwords, criticism, reviews.
  • Specifics of the creation of pleasure in the literary works od the given period.
  • Literariness, documentariness, and authenticity in chosen literary works of the given period.
  • Specifics of literary-aesthetic assessment of literary works of the given period.
  • Practise in the interpretation of chosen works of literature of the given period.
