Course objectives
The course will at first give information about the main concepts and theoretic questions of literature for children and youth, in the second part of the seminar all theoretic skills will be used for analysis of literary works, specially these of them, which come into the context of our literature for children during the last ten years.
The course will focus also on selected works by distinguished world writers of books for children and youth that have been translated into Czech lately thus aiding the development of Czech children's literature.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able to:
- use terminology;
- orientate in genre problems;
- analyze literary texts with respect to specific features of children’s books;
- orientate in contemporary development trends.

A final exam.
The exam is focused on the theory of literature for children and young people and on the contemporary state of children book, knowledge of primary and secondary literature will also be tested.
