You should have a C1 CEFR (Common European Framework) level of German language competence to pass this exam or obtain recognition.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
EXAM PhD in German
The aima of the test is to demonstrate the ability to use spoken and written German language at the C1 ERR level .
The German language examination takes place 3 times a year, usually in January / February, June /September. PhD students must register in IS.
RECOGNITION of EXAM
If the student has passed a language examination before, they can have it recognised.
Possibilities:
- International certificates at C1 ERR
- University degree in the field of German language
- A title acquired at a foreign university (studying in German)
- Publications - Book (nominee must be listed as the first author or first co-author)
- Lecture notes (the candidate must be listed as the first author or first co-author)
- Article (candidate must be listed as the first author or first co-author)
- Outcome at a conference held in German language (the candidate must be listed as the first author and lecturer, has published abstracts to present a contribution in written form)
- Rejected unpublished article / text: (a candidate must be listed as the first author and present text and the reason for the rejection of his posts)

  • There are no classes in this course. As an exam student writes an essay on a topic based on his / her dissertation thesis.

Assessment methods
Writing an academic essay is the exam in this course. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE WRITTEN EXAM
1. range (cca 4 norm pages = 7200 symbols);
2. formal details (title, introduction, main part, closure);
3. appropriate referencing;
STYLE A ORGANIZATION:
1. clear arguments structured in paragraphs;
2. paragraphs divided logically and naturally;
3. applying essay writing principles;
4. appropriate register;
LANGUAGE COMPETENCES
1. grammar appropriate for academic writing (tenses, genders, modal verbs);
2. correct use of grammar;
3. sentence formation;
VOCABULARY
1. relevant vocabulary and terminology;
2. correct use of phrases and idioms appropriate for written assignments;
3. appropriate linking words and signposting language;
MATERIALS FOR THE EXAM:
Students are allowed to bring to the exam their list bibliography and references and dictionaries. <
