Premise of the course is basic knowledge of profane iconography

The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Course is focused on the detail analysis of the examples of baroque art (painting, print etc.), where the ancient mythology is used. On this material student will be able to answer the questions of the iconography and context: development of the opinions in the literature, the role of the ancient mythology in the ruler´s allegories and representation, the relationship to the contemporary literature (esp. mythographies).
Learning outcomes
At the end ot the course student will be able to: distinguish iconographical topics taken from the ancient myhology; analyse selected art objects; connect selected art objects to wider context of early modern mythology science
