Course objectives
This course presents the art in a period of rapid urbanisation, economic growth, political revolution, when artists were in business of finding new ways of making art, new ways of selling art and new ways of talking about art. Participants will learn how to read and interpret visual culture around 1800
Syllabus
  • We will survey crucial thematic issues such as changes in taste, new art public, new types of art, new types of artists and new theoretical discourses.
