Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the role of Tiepolo as a creator of wall paintings in the Bishop Residence of Würzburg and his importance in the development of European painting in the 18th century.
Syllabus
  • Wall painting decoration of the Würzburg Residence.
  • Wall paintings in other Schönborn residences and castles, the fresco painting of the Castle Pommersfelden Stairs as an inspiration of Tiepolo realisations in Würzburg.
  • Form and iconography of artistic decoration of stairs and stair halls in baroque residences and castles.
