Prerequisites (in Czech)
V letech 374-397 byl biskupem Milána, v té době ještě hlavního města západního císařství, bývalý guvernér Ligurie a Emilie, Ambrož. Tato osoba se v letech svého episkopátu výrazně zapsala do dějin svého města. Po smrti byl Ambrož prohlášen za světce a jeho relikvie se staly po celý zbytek středověku (a ještě dlouho po jeho ukončení) základním kamenem identity. V rámci této přednášky bychom se rádi pozastavili nad hlavními etapami formování milánské umělecké kultury od zásadního počinu Ambrožova, který přestavěl pohanské město v město křesťanské, rivalizující s Římem a Cařihradem, až po biskupa Ariberta, který v první polovině XI. století založil svou mezinárodní prestiž právě na Ambrožově dědictví. Nosnou otázkou pro celý kurz bude také jak na milánské relikvie reagovali nově příchozí: Langobardé a Karlovci. Hlavní hypotéza kurzu potom bude že se relikvie v Miláně stávají místem inkluze i exkluze.

  • -Milan, the capital of the Empire and the Christian art of the time of St. Ambrose (286-374). -Ambrose and his city: the new topography of power, competition with Rome (374-396). -Ambrose and his city: inventio of relics and reliquaries (caspella di San Nazaro, the end of IV c.). -Mausoleum of St. Aquilino and so-called sarcophagus of Stylico: art and Ambrosian liturgy around 400. -Basilica of St. Gervasio and Protasia becomes the Basilica of St. Ambrose. Martirium of St. Victor and the mosaics in the chapel of San Vittore ciel d'oro (first half of V c.). Milan and Ravenna-I: The Orthodox Baptistery in Ravenna, the question of baptism ambrosian liturgy (half the V c.) Milan and Ravenna-II: Il dittico delle cinque parti. -Santa Maria Foris Portas in Castelseprio and Hellenism in Lombardy (VI-VIII c.). -Saint Ambrose Ciborium (IX c.). -Shrine of St. Ambrose (IX c.). - The Gospel of Ariberto(XI c.)
