Dvousemestrální přednáška a seminář jsou určeny pro I.cyklus. Záměrem je vymezení fenoménu dramatu a divadla se zřetelem na jejich základní pojmy, jako jsou téma, tematizace, motiv, motivace, dramatická situace, fabule, syžet, mizanscéna, dialog, dialogičnost, dramatická osoba, herecká postava, výstavba dramatického textu a stavba dramatu, interpretace a inscenace, komunikace v divadle, postavení dramatického textu ve struktuře dramatu a divadla, zvláště z pohledu novostrukturalistů.
