Course objectives
The aim of the seminar will be systematic reading and the interpretation of certain passages from philosophical works by A. Schopenhauer, above all parts about aesthetic. We will try to expose the connection of his theory of aesthetic with his metaphysical system. We will also demonstrate the place of the Fine Arts in the metaphysical system and in the theory of aesthetic. The Fine Arts give us an exit from pessimism, but in the philosophical system of A. Schopenhauer have Arts only the function of consolation. This opinion confirm his pessimism. Pessimism, aesthetism and voluntarism are constants of Schopenhauers philosophy. The transformation of these phenomenons will be demonstrated on the reception of his thought in the czech philosophy (L. Klíma, M. Tyrš).
