Course objectives
The course introduces students to the phenomenon of the forest, the ways in which it is used economically by people and its functions of the forest in the culture of the overlap of the human community.
Learning outcomes
Having completed the course students will be able to describe the ways of cultural utilization of forests and cultural treatment of forests in the territory of the Czech lands from the past to the present They will be able to identify and evaluate the basic ethnological literature dealing with this topic.
Syllabus
  • Ethnological and historical definition of the relationship of people to the forest ecosystem from the Middle Ages up to the present in the territory of central Europe, with emphasis on the Czech lands. The ways of use of forest space and participation of specific social groups in various existential dependencies.
