Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to interpret the cultural phenomena of Sebranice in the first half of the 18th century. Students should be able to carry out similar research on the village culture in Moravia at that particular period of time.
Syllabus
  • Review of the Moravian village research, research methods, sources, training the basic research skills – paleography, metrology, reading and analysing period texts, 18th century Sebranice political structures, 18th century Sebranice social structures, 18th century Sebranice demographic characteristics, materialistic culture of the 18th century Sebranice inhabitants: building trade, clothes, food, subsistence of the 18th century Sebranice inhabitants: agriculture, stock raising, home production, religionism of the 18th century Sebranice inhabitants: village Christianity, magic, medicine, secular spiritual culture: schools, reading, folklore
