Course objectives
After completing the course, the students will:;
get practical skills in ethnological fieldwork, especially folkloristical one;
strenghten their skills in collecting, classification and interpretation of collective transmitted texts.;
The seminary following the course Urban Folklore: Folk and Popular Culture is devoted to reading and interpretation of the most important texts of the field in Czech, Slovak and English language, supplemented with simultaneous field collecting of contemporary collective texts and their interpretations. Readings will familiarize students with general theoretical assumptions and detailed case studies of basic issues of urban folklore, the field practical part will be managed according to actual academical interests of the participants.
