Course objectives
Introduction to methodology and practice of historical research.
Key sources and institutions.
Basics of work with literature and sources.
Part of the system of methodological subjects focused on the systematic preparation for independent research activities and the realization of the bachelor project.
Learning outcomes
After finishing this course, students will have been able to:
be oriented in the key industrial and archive institutions of the Czech film and audiovisual industry.
Use archive institutions and sources.
Work with electronic databases.
Perform a filmographic, bibliographic and factographic recherches.
Create abstracts.
Work with citations and paraphrases.
Syllabus
  • I. Set of basic and extensional lectures.
  • II. Special guest lectures on archives, oral history, film law, etc.
  • III. Independent project: recherche of sources.
  • IV. Seminar presentations and discussions.
  • V. Excursion: National Film Archive, Barrandov Studios, Czech Television, Archive of the City of Brno.
