Syllabus
  • The Master's State Exam consists of two parts realized by oral form:
  • 1) Defense of master's thesis.
  • - Report reflecting opinions of the supervisor and the opponent will be available at the latest 5 working days before the defense in the archive of final theses in IS.
  • - The student has the right to a defense even if he received negative reviews.
  • 2) Exam in film theory and history and audiovisual culture.
  • 23 thematic areas with compulsory literature will serve as a basis for discussion at the exam. Within these topics, students will be asked 3 specific questions, one of which will be formulated by students themselves. This means that defined topics are not identical to questions: an optional question is formulated by the student more specifically than a given topic and to cover both theoretical or conceptual understanding of the problem and its historical dimension. For all questions, the knowledge of the history of Czech, Slovak and world cinemas is taken for granted, at least to the extent required to complete the bachelor’s degree. This knowledge will be related to questions during the exam.
