Course objectives
The lecture and the discussion form of teaching will be employed. The lecture deals with the basic features of the dandysm and its diffents historical aspects in the French literature of the 19the and 20th century. The analysis of texts will try to reveal specific features of the phenomenon as well as its historical relationship.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of the major periods of French-Canadian and Québec literature
- evaluate the specific features of the American Francophony
- analyze literary texts

  • 1. Dandysm as a social and literary phenomenon. 2. Transfer from England to France. 3. Dandysm as a problem of the fringe (marginality). 4. Dandysme and "salons littéraires". 5. Dandysm in the long historical and cultural context.
