Course objectives
The Medieval French bestiaries will be red and commented essentially from the following points of view : - the symbolic conception of the animals - the history of the literary type, the origins of the different motives and their posterity in the medieval literature and in the European cultural tradition - the iconography of the Bestiaries and it's relation to the written text - the typical features of different bestiaries; the special derivations of these works - the Bestiaire d'Amour of Richard of Fournival and the Bestiaire d'amour rimé
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. Historie žánru; jednotlivé rodiny bestiářů; vliv řeckého Physiologu, Isidora Sevillského a Hrabana Maura 1. Symbolismus bestiářů; moralizačně-utilitární perspektiva jejich autorů a nerealistické ztvárnění zvířat; fantastická fauna 2. Četba a analýza vybraných pasáží z jednotlivých bestiářů; vlastnosti jednotlivých zvířat podle bestiářů; alegorický styl : stylistické a syntaktické rysy textů 3.Jazyk stredovekych bestiaru : slovni zasoba, syntax a gramatika na zaklade rukopisu. Dialektalni rysy jednotlivych textu. 3. Ilustrace a jejich vztah k psanému textu; 4. Transpozice motivů bestiáře z náboženské perspektivy do kurtoazní roviny : Thibaut de Champagne; Bestiaire d'amour Richarda de Fournival ; Bestiaire d'amour rimé 5. Autorita bestiářů; jejich praktické využití literárními autory a kazateli, jejich místo v evropské kulturní tradici

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Zápočet - písemný test Pokud si posluchač předmět zapíše, je účast na něm povinná. Znalost stare francouzstiny (a latiny) je zadouci - texty vetsinou nejsou prelozeny a cast prace spociva v jazykove analyse.
