Course objectives
The course main objective is to develop oral proficiency through class activities and debate. Various everyday life topics focusing on the Italian culture and society will be taken into account. Students will be asked to express their own opinions, agreement and disagreement, to talk about their past experiences and dreams.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - present / describe everyday life topics relevant to the Italian culture and society. - express opinions giving reasons, express agreement and disagreement - understand and express hypothesis, report past experiences and express wishes and ambitions - use the relevant vocabulary in an effective way
Syllabus
  • Situational practice sessions which include both speech and written expressions used in day-to-day communication, focusing on common sayings and informal speech. Students will be able to express/give advice and opinions, to explain their point of view, to formulate and understand hypotheses, to speak about past events and to tell stories.

Teaching methods
Communicative language teaching methodologies implemented through the analysis of different written texts and videos, focusing on the use of language in written and oral Italian. Students will be asked to discuss different topics, to take part to pair and group work. Without minimum enrollment (three students at least) the course will be cancelled.
Assessment methods
Credit – oral examination. Once enrolled, attendance is mandatory (min. 75%).
