Course objectives
The course aims at providing students with a critical-philological approach to ancient texts. Sometimes we will work on unpublished texts or first-hand material (manuscripts or early prints).

It is strongly advised that students of this course should attend also the coursze of Filologia Italiana I / Textual Criticism I or study a good manual of Italian textual criticism (Alfredo Stussi, Pasquale Stoppelli, Paolo Chiesa, or Alberto Varvaro). Students must know the meaning of the following concepts: source, form, multiple forms, authorial variants, fortune, reception, transmission, tradition, critical edition

Since the course mostly consists in reading and explaining excerpts of literary works which are part of the exam, you are kindly invited to print them on paper.
