Course objectives
The goal of the course is to acgaint students with tendency toward the penetration of phenomena of ordinary everyday life into artistic expressions from the the 19th century to these days. The lectures won't follow the chronology, but different fundamental phenomena. What can be included among the "Ready Mades"?

  • ordinary objects in new contexts (Duchamp, Schwitters, Cage, Warhol, Koons, Christo, Feldman...)
  • "gender" - sex, erotics, sexuality (change of identity - Duchamp, Cahun, Orlan...)
  • sexuality - Courbet, Duchamp, Surrealism, akcionalists, Fluxus, Warhol...
  • cruelty, pain, obscenity (Artaud, Viennese actionalism, Body art, Manzini...)
