Prerequisites
The student enrolls in the state final examination of a follow-up master's degree program if:
- earned credits from all (mandatory and optional) subjects;
- Submitted a diploma thesis for the evaluation and obtained the diploma thesis from the supervisor and the opponent

Course objectives
The state final exam is designed to demonstrate the student's ability to:
- to deal with the given professional issues;
- to react in discussion and substantiate arguments;
- to prove the knowledge of professional literature and other sources and to be able to use them in professional controversy;
- have knowledge of factual knowledge of basic and advanced methodologies in the field;
- critically work with professional literature;
- have the ability to apply the theoretical knowledge of the field in the field of practice.
The aim of the final Master's examination is to examine the comprehensive knowledge and insight into the field of Information Studies and Librarianship, including the transdisciplinary context.
Learning outcomes
After completing the state final examination, the student has a comprehensive knowledge and insight into the field of Information and Library Studies, including the transdisciplinary context. The graduate is able to:
- to deal with the given professional issues;
- respond to expert discussion and substantiate arguments;
- to prove the knowledge of professional literature and other sources and to be able to use them in professional controversy;
- to prove and apply knowledge in the profession, factual knowledge of basic and advanced methodologies in the field;
- critically work with professional literature;
- Apply the theoretical knowledge of LIS in the field of practice
Syllabus
  • The state final exam is oral and consists of the defense of the diploma thesis before the commission and the oral examination of the LIS thematic areas before the commission. Both parts are accessed by the student in the same trial period and in one day. The exam begins with the defense of the thesis before the commission, then the oral examination from the LIS circles in front of the commission follows on the same day.
  • The terms of state final examinations are announced by the head of the institute and published on the official notice board so that candidates can sign up.

Assessment methods
The state final examination is held in both parts of the committee in front of a committee with at least three members. Each part of the examination - defense of work and oral examination from the thematic areas of the LIS field is evaluated on a commission basis. The final evaluation of the final state examination takes the form of one common mark, on which the commission has decided.
