Course objectives
At the end of this cource student will be able to demonstrate a general knowledge of the history of ancient world from the Ancient civilisations of the Near East to the Helenism; to evaluate the importance of classical archeology for its research; getting to know the most important relics of this period and their historical consequences he will be able to explain these consequences
Syllabus
  • 1)Introduction to study in this field. 2)The main types of state, government and economy in the kingdoms of ancient Orient. 3)Mythology and religion, law, literature and arts in ancient Near East (Mesopotamia, Egypt). 4)The beginnings of the Antiquity in Europa. 5) The so called dark ages of the Greek history. 6) The general historical processes in archaic period of Greece. 7)The development of Sparta in this period. 8) The development of Athens in this period. 9)The epoch of classical Greece. 1O)The crisis of poleis. 11) Hellenism and its culture. 12) The main representants of Greek literature. 13) The importance of Greek civilization for the contemporary world.
