The origin of the Etruscans and their cultural ties to the Orient, periods and characteristics of Etruscan culture, urbanistic and engineering works, their ties with ritual, construction materials and methods, burial architecture; pictorial art, its ties with cults and burial rites, Etruscan painting: monumental and vase, the development of sculpture, portrait realism and stylization, Etruscan crafts.

  • Původ Etrusků a jejich kulturní vazby k Orientu, periodizace a charakteristika etruské kultury, etruská urbanistika a inženýrské stavby, sepětí s rituálem, stavebí materiály a konstrukční systém, pohřební architektura; obrazová umění, jejich sepětí s kultem a záhrobním ritem, etruské malířství: monumentální a vázové, vývoj plastiky, portrétní realismus a stylizace, etruské umělecké řemeslo. Pozornost bude věnována roli Etrusků při urbanizaci Říma a jejich vkladu do římské kultury a souvislosti etruského a řeckého sochařství, zejména tam, kde jsou etruské artefakty poměrně věrnými kopiemi řeckých předloh. Písemné a archeologické informace o raných památkách římské kultury. Postupné přejímání řecké kultury ve středorepublikánském Římě.

Course objectives
The origin of the Etruscans and their cultural ties to the Orient, periods and characteristics of Etruscan culture, urbanistic and engineering works, their ties with ritual, construction materials and methods, burial architecture; pictorial art, its ties with cults and burial rites, Etruscan painting: monumental and vase, the development of sculpture, portrait realism and stylization, Etruscan crafts.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Původ Etrusků a jejich kulturní vazby k Orientu, periodizace a charakteristika etruské kultury, etruská urbanistika a inženýrské stavby, sepětí s rituálem, stavebí materiály a konstrukční systém, pohřební architektura; obrazová umění, jejich sepětí s kultem a záhrobním ritem, etruské malířství: monumentální a vázové, vývoj plastiky, portrétní realismus a stylizace, etruské umělecké řemeslo. Pozornost bude věnována roli Etrusků při urbanizaci Říma a jejich vkladu do římské kultury a souvislosti etruského a řeckého sochařství, zejména tam, kde jsou etruské artefakty poměrně věrnými kopiemi řeckých předloh. Písemné a archeologické informace o raných památkách římské kultury. Postupné přejímání řecké kultury ve středorepublikánském Římě.
