It is necessary to have passed courses LJ607 and LJ608 Latin by Direct Method I and II to enroll this course.

Course objectives
Through the methods used in teaching of spoken languages (reading, writing, conversations, listening exercises, language games, text dramatisation, etc.), students will improve their knowledge of Latin grammar and life in ancient Rome acquired during previous courses. The course is supplemented with e-learning support againg, that enables students instant feedback to their home preparation.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, student will be able to:
- conjugate Latin verb in indicative of praesens, imperfect and future;
- graduate adjectives and adverbs;
- use Latin numerals;
- be well up in more complicated syntactical stuctures of a text;
- talk fluently in Latin on a given topic.

  • 1) Organization, repetition of knowledge from the previous course LJ608 Latin bz Direct Method II;
  • 2) cap. XVI Tempestas (verba deponentia; fieri; Ablativus absolutus);
  • 3) cap. XVII Numeri difficiles (quisque; verba omnium coniugationum pass.; numeri);
  • 4) cap. XVIII Litterae Latinae (numeri; adverbia);
  • 5) cap. XIX Maritus et Uxor (praeteritum omnium verborum; bonus/melior/optimus);
  • 6) cap. XX Parentes (futurum omnium verborum; velle; deminutiva).

Teaching methods
The course is taught as an interactive seminar, applies the teaching methods used in modern languages, class participation and home preparation are therefore necessary.
Assessment methods
Requirements for successful completion of the course: regular class attendance (students may miss maximum 3 classes without written excuse); active participation in classes; passing the final oral colloquium on a given topic. To be allowed to take exam, students have to complete all obligatory exercises in ELF.
