Course objectives
The main aims of the course are:
- the elementary understanding of Virgil's text - student is able to read and translate selected passages of Virgil's text
- thorough knowledge of the temporal, cultural and literary context, literary examples and the subsequent tradition of the text

Teaching methods
Seminars, 1½ hours per week. Class discussions.
Assessment methods
At the end of the course, written and oral final examination: analysis of the metre of a selected poem and its adequate translation from Latin. Active participation at the classes and homework are also expected. Minimum pass level of the written examination: 75%
