Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
reliably recognize the morphological forms and generate them;
use selected kinds of the subordinate clauses and non-finite verb constructions;
use synonymic grammatical devices for some phenomena;
translate easy sentences into Czech and Latin and easy Latin texts into Czech;
summarize similarities between selected desinences across declensions and conjugations studied within the course.
Syllabus
  • Morphology: perfect and supine stem; perfect indicative, pluperfect indicative, future perfect indicative, perfect subjunctive, pluperfect subjunctive, future participle; periphrastic conjugation; gerundive and gerund; semideponent verbs; verbs esse, ire, velle, fieri, ferre and composed verbs; praeteritopraesent verbs.
  • Syntax: consecutio temporum, ablative absolute, nominative with infinitive, verbs iubere and vetare, cum historicum and selected types of subordinated clauses.

Course objectives
The course, supplementary to Latin Grammar I, is prepared for the students with small preliminary knowledge of Latin. Main objectives of the course are:
to practise Latin grammar as taught in Latin Grammar II;
to assess the grammatical features covered as a part of Latin morphology and find similarities between them;
to practise systematical approach to the Latin grammar;
to practise translation from and into Latin;
to give methodical support to the students (how to learn Latin morphology, how to work with dictionary, etc.).
Syllabus

Course objectives
The course, closely related to Latin Grammar II, is for students with small preliminary knowledge of Latin. Main objectives of the course are: to practise Latin grammar, teached in the course Latin Grammar II; to compare similarities and differences between grammatical features and morphological forms; to practise systematic approach to Latin grammar; to practise translation from Latin to Czech and from Czech to Latin; to give to the students methodical support for their work (how to learn Latin morphology, how to work with dictionary, etc.).

  • Imperfect conjunctive (1st-4th conjugation and esse.
  • Use of the present and imperfect conjunctive in selected types of subordinate clauses (ut / ne clauses, cum historicum, conditional clauses).
  • Numerals.
  • Perfect stem, perfect active indicative.
  • Perfect passive participle, perfect passive indicative.
  • Participium coniunctum, ablative absolute.
  • Pluperfect and future perfect indicative and its use in subordinate clauses.

Assessment methods
Succesfull completion of the course derives from the active participation in the classes, submission of 2 to 3 assignments during the semester and passing of the final written test. Maximum of three missed lessons is acceptable.
