Course objectives
The aim of this course is to provide Latinists with a reasonably comprehensive introduction to wall inscriptions from the Campanian city of Pompeii.
Syllabus
  • Block lessen 3. - 5. 11. 2015, on Tuesday 10,50-12.25 in room C 21, on Wednesday and Thursday in room L 34, Veveří 28, Wednesday at 12,30-14,05; on Thursday at 11,40-13,15. 3. 11. 2015.   • Meeting 2. Public Acclamations and Salutations; Salutations and Wishes, Curses and Insults; Lists, Memoranda, Notices;
  • Meeting 3. Love and Lust; Citations from Latin Poets; Miscellaneous Dipinti and Graffiti.

Apart from regular attendance course requirements will include preparation of two homeworks (Transcriptions of texts of selected wall inscriptions based on their drawings or photos).
