The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of French.

  • GRAMMAR: conjugation of irregular verbs (battre, boire, conduire, courir, devoir, dire, dormir, écrire, payer, prendre, lire, mettre, partir, perdre, recevoir, tenir, vivre, voir), reflexive verbs, imperative, compound past (auxiliary verb être), imparfait, future simple tense (future simple), subjonctif (introduction), contracted article (au, du), pronouns (indirect object, en, y, indefinite, demonstrative), ordinal numbers, negation, prepositions (space, time, countries).

Teaching methods
All the basic methods of CLT programme (Communicative Language TEaching)are used: individual, pair, group activities (conversation, practice, drill). Audition.
Assessment methods
Final exam:
1. written part: grammar and vocabulary test (see study materials).
2. oral part: discussion on everyday topics based on the issuses covered in the course.
Submission of six written translations during the semester is obligatory (see study materials).
