Course objectives
Main objectives of the course: learning about the methods of acquisition of collection objects and forms of museum registration on the basis of practical training
Learning outcomes
Student competences after completion of the course:
- ability to elaborate the concept of collecting activity in a museum;
- ability to choose and apply adequate collecting method to various types of collections;
- orientation in forms of museum registration of collections;

  • Identification and description of museum collection objects
  • Museum registration programmes in practice
  • Specifics of depository rooms in the context of collection-building activity
  • Examples of individual forms of collection-building activity
  • Elaboration of a collection-building concept
  • Presentation and defence of a collection-building concept

Seminar – compulsory participation, credit – team elaboration of the collecting concept in a selected museum, presentation in the closing seminar, defence of the presented concept in a discussion within the scope of the seminar
