Course objectives
The course is focusing on the methods of museum's objects protection, specifying and identifying of causes of protection and security of museums objects and drawing-up the plans of security and protection in museum.
Learning outcomes
- making students aware of causes of protection and security of museums objects and identify it;
- acquainting students with the metohds of museum's objects protection
- drawing-up the plans of security and protection in museum
Syllabus
  • Introduction, basic terms, literature;
  • Security plans, organisational structure of museum and security;
  • Museums buildings security. Disaster control planing and plans;
  • Physical and electronic security. Protection against fire;
  • Handling museum artefacts; studying and researchers; advance of museum artefacts to other museums;
  • Packing and transport of museum objects;
  • Protection of collection against sources of damage - temperature, light, humidity, dust, air pollution etc.;
  • Pasive and active conservation; Climate in museum building;
  • Recommended levels of light, relative humidity, temperature for museum objects. Reactivity of material;
  • Protection of museum objects out of storages. Ethics and law;
