We do not require any knowledge of the Dutch language. This course is for beginners.

Course objectives
The aim of this course is to teach the students basic Dutch so that the students are able to communicate in everyday basic situations. We focus on all four skills - speaking + proper pronunciation, listening, writing and reading. The student also acquires basic knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and realia of the topics we focus on during the course.
There is a follow up course - Dutch for beginners II. At the end of both courses is the expected level A1 - A2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Syllabus
  • There are four topics which we focus on in the course. These topics are the topics of the first four or five chapters from the textbook Help 1: 1.Introduction
  • 2. Getting to know each other
  • 3. On the road
  • 4. In a restaurant
Teaching methods
weakly lessons - 2 hours per week
Assessment methods
written midterm test, evaluation of homework. At the end of the semester a credit test
