Course objectives
Upon succesfull completion of the course, students will have a general knowledge of various directions of German literature since the thirties of the 20th century until the postwar years 1945-1949. The main scope lies partly in the exile literature of the years 1933-1945 and partly in the new evolution of postwar German literature untill the declaration of two German states. In the seminar there will be reports and discussions on the fundamental works of selected authors focusing mainly on novels and stories. The main objective is to gain overview of significant authors and works of this period and the capability of individual analysis.
